Assessments

The Mississippi Academic Assessment Program is the Mississippi statewide program of educational assessments. This suite includes MAAP, MAAP-A, ELPT, ACT, NAEP and K-3 Assessments.

The results of all MAAP assessments provide information to be used for the improvement of student achievement. We view state assessments as opportunities to celebrate the learning accomplishment of our students.

When the Corinth School District received approval for the modified calendar, we also received approval for a modified testing calendar. While our testing window may vary each year because of our modified calendar, the testing windows do remain similar from year to year. We will publish the yearly testing dates as soon as all dates are approved.

Assessment Results

The results of assessments taken by Corinth School District students are used in a variety of ways. Overall, they are used to make informed decisions and to improve teaching and learning.

• Instructional Planning—Results are used as a part of planning personalized instruction and to monitor student progress toward grade-level benchmarks.

• Placement—Results may be used as one of the criteria for placement in accelerated classes.

• School Improvement—Results are used to evaluate programs and plan programming improvements, in addition to instructional planning.

• Accountability—Results are used as an accountability measurement and to fulfill the requirements of state and federal legislation.

• College and Career Readiness—Results can indicate readiness for college and careers while informing course selection and career interests.
