COVID-19 STATEMENT 4 - School Closure - Digital Learning

CORINTH SCHOOL DISTRICT

COVID-19 Statement 4

March 19, 2020

Schools today are experiencing challenges we have never faced as we deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Governor has issued an Executive Order closing all schools until April 17, 2020.

The Corinth School administrative staff  and teachers are finalizing a comprehensive plan to address how we meet the educational needs of our students as we face these extended school closures.   This afternoon we will announce a  Digital  Distance Learning Plan for students in grades 6-12 that will begin on Monday, March 23, 2020.  We will follow-up with an additional announcement for PreK-Grade 5.  In addition, we will begin to share educational resources and opportunities for our students on District social media and YouTube accounts.

It is important for parents to talk with our children about the Coronavirus as these times can be confusing and scary for them.  Be reassuring to your children and focus on what you are doing to be safe.  Don’t be afraid to talk with them about the Coronavirus, but do it in a way that is developmentally appropriate.  Establish and stick to a routine as we enter these days of uncertainty about school.  But most importantly, model and continue to stress the importance of handwashing, covering  mouths with a tissue or the bends of the elbow when sneezing or coughing, and not to share food and drink.

Thank you for your patience and support.  We will continue to communicate with you any information that becomes available.
